This is the standard Taiwan Adventures route for Mt Qilai. The trip usually involves two nights at a basic mountain cabin and a long middle day taking in both Qilai North Peak and Qilai Main Peak.
The summit day normally begins before dawn and can involve 10–12 hours of hiking and scrambling, depending on weather, trail conditions, and group pace.
There is significant exposure in places, especially around the ascent of Qilai North Peak, where the route includes ropes, steep slabs, and rough high mountain terrain.
Other itineraries may be possible using different cabins or campgrounds, depending on permits, group fitness, weather, and route conditions.
