Sandiaoling is a tiny village located near the beginning of the Pingxi Branch Rail Line. This moderately strenuous hike passes by some four waterfalls, each one more impressive than the next. One of the waterfalls, Motian Waterfall, even has a small cove cut into the back of it where hikers can crawl through to gain an interesting view from behind the curtain of water.
For this hike we typically take the train due to the remote location of the beginning of the hike. However private transport can be arranged if requested. The hike typically takes around 4-5 hours which gives us plenty of time to explore the town of Shifen at the end of the hike. You’ll often see people here setting off lanterns that the area is famed for.
The hike involves around 4-6 hours of hiking. There is some exposure to heights, ladders and fixed ropes. A good level of fitness is required.
Private transportation is provided from anywhere in Taipei or the Taipei/Taoyuan Airport to the mountain. Pickups in other locations can be arranged, sometimes for a small extra fee. Vehicles are insured; Drivers are licensed; and traffic rules are obeyed.
All the main meals are provided for the hike. Clients only need to bring their own snacks. If you have any special dietary requests, allergies, or needs, let us know and we’ll be happy to accommodate you.
